NO. 79-1 STATE OF NEW JERSEY PUBLIC EMPLOYMENT RELATIONS COMMISSION BEFORE THE DIRECTOR OF REPRESENTATION In the Matter of NEW JERSEY COLLEGE OF MEDICINE AND DENTISTRY, Public Employer, -and- Docket No. AC-78-2 LOCAL 153, OFFICE AND PROFESSIONAL EMPLOYEES INTERNATIONAL UNION, AFL-CIO, CLC, Petitioner. Hiles, Business Representative AMENDMENT OF CERTIFICATION OF REPRESENTATIVE On March 10, 1978, a Petition for Amendment of Certification was filed pursuant to N.J.A.C. 19:11-1.6 with the Public Employment Relations Commission (the A Commission @ ) by Local 153, Office and Professional Employees International Union, AFL-CIO, CLC ( A Local 153") seeking to amend a Certification of Representative issued by the Commission on June 24, 1975. The initial Certification designated A Professional and Technical Employees Union Local 484, AFL-CIO @ ( A Local 484") as the exclusive representative for a unit of all full-time security guards and security officers who work twenty (20) hours or more per week, employed by the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey. Local 153, by this Petition, requests an amendment of the Certification to reflect that Local 484 has merged with Office and Professional Employees International Union and is now known as Local 153. The undersigned has caused an investigation to be conducted into the matters involved in this Petition. Local 484/Local 153 has demonstrated that the membership, upon proper notification, voted unanimously in an election held on October 23, 1977 to merge with Local 153. Local 153 has also properly demonstrated that there is a continuity of unit composition since the merger and that Officers and Delegates have continued in their representative role since the merger. In a letter dated March 27, 1978, the Governor = s Office of Employee Relations indicated that the Employer, New Jersey College of Medicine and Dentistry, does not object to the amendment of certification sought herein provided that Local 153 has met this Commission = s requirements for such amendment. In consideration of the statements and documents presented by the Petitioner herein including the foregoing, and in accordance with the Commission = s Rules, the Certification of Representative is hereby amended and Local 153, Office and Professional Employees International Union is designated as the exclusive negotiations representative of employees in the above- described collective negotiations unit.
