GRIEVANCE ARBITRATION EXPERIENCE:
As a full-time neutral since 2005, Mr Shaller has arbitrated numerous labor grievances and employment claims in both the public and private sectors. Issues arbitrated have included: Discipline and Discharge, Arbitrability, Bargaining Unit Work, Discrimination, Drug/Alcohol Offenses and Testing, ERISA, Health and Welfare Plans, Withdrawal Liability, Trustee Deadlocks, FLSA, FMLA, Bonus, Holidays and Vacations, Interest Arbitration, Job Performance, Job Posting/Bidding, Jurisdictional Disputes, Layoffs/Bumping/Recall, Management Rights, Official Time, Past Practices, Promotion, Safety/Health Conditions, Seniority, Sexual Harassment, Strikes, Lockouts, Work Stoppages, Subcontracting/Contracting Out, Tenure/Reappointment, Job Classification and Rates, Merit Pay, Work Hours/Schedules/Assignments, Working Conditions/Work Orders, Violence or Threats.

MEDIATION AND FACT-FINDING EXPERIENCE:
Mr. Shaller had mediated numerous employment cases. Among other organizations, he has mediated cases for: the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission; the Nuclear Regulatory Commission; the U.S. Congress’ Office of Compliance; and the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia. He is a member of the American Arbitration Association’s Employment Mediation Panel.

Mr. Shaller has taught mediation as an Adjunct Professor of Law at the George Washington University Law School.

Mr. Shaller's arbitration practice has included serving from 2009-2019, as Deputy Chairman and Member of the Foreign Service Grievance Board, a grievance appeals body that adjudicates grievances filed by Foreign Service Officers, or their exclusive bargaining agent, against the State Department or other foreign affairs agency.

Prior to becoming a labor arbitrator in 2005, Mr. Shaller worked for 25 years as a labor and employment attorney for three law firms.
